Uny’ak PANAOLA Creature Design

“The Uny'aks are large woolly beasts with imposing antlers on their skulls, who inhabit the icy slopes of the eastern mountains. Due to their relative docility and tremendous strength, they are used as the main means of transportation on Punhak’s trade routes, becoming a very important resource for oriental society. They coexist with the rest of the creatures in the area, both domestic and wild, and have no known natural predator, although their young must be properly protected against the stealthy dangers that inhabit the snowy mountains.

The main difference between subspecies is their antlers, which vary widely, and their size, which is smaller in warmer areas. Their powerful legs have wide hooves that allow them to move through dense snow with ease.
In addition, their fur is dense and they have a large reserve of fat under it. The musculature is powerful and fibrous, so its meat is not highly appreciated and is only consumed in case of extreme need.

In the Panaola empire there are other smaller species related to the Uny'aks, most of them domesticated and used as cattle or pack animals. Only the Ur, a larger, iridescent black subspecies, remain wild, due to their aggressiveness.”
